MISSION STATEMENT

The “Caribbean American Heritage Month Celebration Committee” of Springfield is a local chapter/member of the national commemorative committee.

The vision for the National Caribbean American Heritage Month (NCAHM) June designation program is to create a network of Caribbean American leaders driven by a passion to cultivate an enduring community that allow each local commemorative committee to provide the venues in cities and towns across the country that will create an environment through which Americans of all backgrounds and nationalities will join in the commemoration of June as National Caribbean American Heritage Month in order to recognize the significance of Caribbean people and their descendants in the history and culture of the United States.

Each year cities across America have hosted their own celebrations. Last year the Caribbean American Heritage Month Celebration Committee of Springfield, Massachusetts was formed and became the first local city in Western Massachusetts to join in the national commemoration recognizing June as Caribbean-American Heritage Month. It is our hope that the citizens of our communities are reminded that America’s greatness lies in its diversity. Caribbean immigrants from founding father Alexander Hamilton, to journalist Malcolm Gladwell have shaped the American dream. We would be honored to have you join us at any of our local annual festivities.
